We had a fantastic time together at the Isis pub down by the river last night for our annual ‘Beer & Carols’ event.

On a beautiful, clear, starlit night we gathered in the barn out the back of the pub – along with friends, guests, and plenty of people who had just heard about the event and rocked up. About 100 people squeezed into the barn with a pint of beer or a glass of mulled wine in hand.

We began with the children singing ‘Away in a Manger’ to everyone (see first picture below) as we lit our candles and then spent the next 40 minutes or so singing carols – Martin on fiddle, Pete on mandolin, Juliet on flute and Trev and Matt on guitar – hearing readings and saying some simple prayers together.

It was a cracking night – a brilliant start to the final week of Advent and the beginning of Christmas.

Happy Christmas everyone!
