Our celebrations started with a walking pilgrimage around important sites in the history of Home, retracing the steps of the journey of the last 10 years. We then had a service of thanksgiving – focussing on the theme of pilgrimage, using Caravaggio’s famous painting – ‘Supper at Emmaus’ – as our theme and drinking water from the font using scallop shells – the traditional symbol of being on pilgrimage – giving thanks for all that the last 10 years has given us, naming the people who have been part of Home, and gathering around the altar as we committed ourselves to continuing the journey together. We then cracked open the barrel of ale and the champagne, cut the cake and made some toasts. Then we sat down to watch the movie that Mark and Becks had edited (soon to be on our site), and then the dancing started with our own band providing the music and our own Liz doing the calling. A great day!
